About Me

I am a Mother of two beautiful kids who has a passion for cooking food that brings people to my dinner table.  I started Family Night Dinners around seven years ago.  It is exactly like the old school Sunday dinners from the 50′s where family and friends come over once a week and we all break bread together.  Over the years some of the faces have changed, but the feeling is still the same.  Serve people food made from love and they in turn will come back for more.  I love having a warm and inviting home in which food, wine and good company is always in fashion.  It takes a village to raise a family and in this village I am the town cook.

If you have read any of my posts, you see that I “Clink” my fork with you and the end of all of my posts.  We also do this at our dinner table every time.  Yes, I stole the thought from Jerry McGuire and the cute 8 pound head kid (although I think he is in his 20′s now) when they clinked their spoons before eating cereal.  But, we made it our own tradition as a way of focusing on the fact that dinner time is family time.

One of my main dreams is to eventually go through some type of formal culinary training.  I worked in the industry for ten years before I started my family and although I did quite well for myself, not having that training always loomed over my head.  Will I go back to cooking/managing professional kitchens?  Who knows, but if I do I would love some education above and beyond what I have self taught myself.

My one major flaw is photography.  I know now and days to be the big fish, you need to be an amazing photographer as well as chef.  I have the cooking down pat, but photography to me is like trying to speak Mandarin.  I am slowly working on it and who knows maybe one day I can self teach myself how to be a good photographer.  But, until then, you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit.  Spoken like a true Mom!

My other hobbies actually make eating possible.  I am an avid runner and yogi.  I find balance with exercise that nothing else can provide in my life.  I feel I am a much better Mom, better person when I am able to sweat a bit every day.

I hope you enjoy my blog and the recipes in it as much as I enjoy cooking for my friends and family.  Now go and make a family night dinner of your own…Clink!
